The DRANKIN’ Column is gonzo journalism about my adventures in bars across New York City.

In the grand tradition of writers like Lois Long and Michael Musto, I detail the drinks, patrons, ambience, and happenings that represent NYC bar culture, honestly and as I see it. All of the bars in my stories are new to me until I walk through the door. In these accounts, I’m somewhere in between a fly on the wall and a Stranger in a Strange Land, with a lot of curiosity and a knack for befriending strangers.

PROFESSIONAL PORTFOLIO

In addition to writing alllllll my interview questions, I also love to do long-form articles. When it comes to writing, I’m a jack of all trades (or, a glutton for the written word, either one works for me). Show development treatments and sizzle reels, editorial and sponsored video scripts, branded content articles — you name it, I’ve probably done it, or I sure would like to try.

A common thread in my writing is a curated comedic edge. Maybe the client/employer wants something that will make them sound hip with the kids, or something witty and sophisticated, or something that’s super wacky; whatever it is, I’m ready to yuk it up.

ORIGINAL CONTENT FOR The stir (drizly)

Writing for Drizly’s online magazine affords me another opportunity to blend my writing and mixology expertises. My articles give readers a behind-the-bottle look at beverage trends, culture, history, and insiders, all while simultaneously leveraging Drizly’s proprietary data and positioning the company as a thought-leader in the beverage industry.

SHOW DEVELOPMENT FOR SCOUT PRODUCTIONS

It’s been a real honor to work with the award-winning people at Scout, who most noteably have produced incredible, progressive projects like Queer Eye, Legendary, and The Hype. Alongside Scout’s Head of Development and production team, I brainstorm show concepts, suss out example scripts, and create show treatments to use in studio pitches.

PRETTY SMART for BEAUTY STUDIO

I was the head writer and occasional host for this health and wellness series. It’s always a challenge to take esoteric medical material and boil it down into something digestible for laymen, but to also make it funny for teens? Not easy! However, I love a good challenge, and I loved doing this show.

BRANDED CONTENT FOR MASHABLE

While working full-time at Mashable, I began as a creative strategist for their branded content team and later transitioned to become a creative producer for their editorial video team. As part of the BC team, I spearheaded the creative direction for branded campaigns across every industry imaginable and occasionally wrote some of the campaign content myself.

SPONSORED & ORIGINAL CONTENT FOR EKO

I revamped and wrote new copy for eko’s multiple partnership series with Buzzfeed, which also included writing longform blog posts to provide thought leadership for eko. Additionally, I helped launch eko’s original video series by establishing voice and tone within episode descriptions.

Psst…
